ROLLING MILLS
Flat aluminium products are obtained through the rolling process, by which large aluminium formats, called plates, are placed into a rolling mill that transforms them into aluminium sheets of various thicknesses. Usually, the process begins with a hot rolling, which runs the aluminium block, back and forth, through a reduction roller. The final rolling takes place cold, and the thickness of the sheet can be reduced up to 0.15 mm.
EXTRUSION
PRESSES
Aluminium profiles are obtained through an extrusion process, which consists in pushing a preheated cylindrical aluminium billet through a shaped mould. The ease of extrusion of aluminium alloys, from which complex shapes can be obtained, allows designers to “use the metal where it is needed” and to introduce multifunctional features. Aluminium extrusions are used in commercial and residential construction sector for window frames, doors and curtain walls, in prefabricated house and building structures and in numerous other applications.
