Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) are used in metallurgy for the production of steel from scrap and of monocrystalline silicon from minerals made of silicon. Used for recycling scrap iron or stainless steel (Inox), arc furnaces are also used for melting pre-reduced material from mineral, or cast iron briquettes, when the availability of scrap is insufficient or economically disadvantageous.
